Virtual Tomato crops
The virtual tomato is one of the digital twins developed at WUR. This twin creates a 3D image of the tomato plants in a greenhouse, thus giving more insight into how the tomato plants develop in greenhouse conditions.
This allows to adapt the conditions and see the effects on the plant in real time. This allows to manage the plant’s growth based on more information, but also to monitor the greenhouse from another location.
With this DT of the virtual tomato plant, it is possible to project future effects of actions, based on past data. This allows to take more informed decisions. This allows to consider effects on plant growth, but also to anticipate economic and environmental effects over a longer period.
This DT aims for two user-groups: tomato-growers and plant-breeder.
